Further information on the pilot project:
In 2025, a pilot project between George Watson’s College (GWC) and the University of Edinburgh, saw 8 S5-6 pupils work towards their Young Stem Leaders Award by running Micro:bits activities in local primary schools. They started in the GWC Junior school then went to local primary schools in Edinburgh including Canal View and Balgreen Primary Schools.
The older pupils gained new skills with Micro:bits and the confidence to lead classroom activities with younger pupils.
The younger pupils enjoyed learning new digital skills from their older peers and working on fun and interesting activities together.
