Live sensor data from schools across south-east Scotland. Learners have deployed sensors in classrooms, dining areas, greenhouses, compost bins, a zoo, community gardens and many other places. Through analysing the data, they explore the science behind their indoor and outdoor environments.

About this data

Data is collected as part of learner investigations

⚠️ Experimental data — please read

Learners are experimenting with these sensors, so the data cannot be used as an accurate depiction of a typical school environment.

For example, while learning about CO₂, pupils may blow directly into sensors, place them in areas of high CO₂ concentration, or in covered outdoor spaces with only ambient levels. Some classes have explored temperature gradients by placing one sensor on a radiator and another on a windowsill.

A West Lothian class even placed one of their sensors inside a crocodile enclosure at a local zoo — comparing that data with their classroom readings.

Data collected from school sensors is made public through this and other websites for learning and teaching purposes only. No personal data is included in any sensor readings.
