Digital Skills Education have released a new video walk through of ‘Plug in the Numbers’ to support teachers with limited experience of the Live Lesson format.

Plug in the Numbers is an interactive activity that uses data science skills to estimate the amount of electricity that could be generated by installing solar panels on  schools. Learners work with energy usage data, geolocation data, satellite imagery, and earth observation data collected by NASA during the course of the lesson.

Plug in the Numbers was inspired by, and launched at time the COP26 climate summit took place in Glasgow (Oct/Nov 2021).

The video is a preview of the activity with explanations at key points of the interactive lesson.

It is hoped the new resource will encourage teachers to try the engaging live lesson format with their class. To date, almost 3500 learners have participated in Plug in the Numbers.
