We were happy to welcome STV News to one of the sessions of our February run of the Unbelievably Creative show at the Edinburgh Futures Institute. The session featured in a news story on how Scottish school pupils are learning about the potential and risks of AI.
Designed and delivered by our partners at Digital Skills Education, Unbelievably Creative is an output of the project Towards embedding responsible AI in the school system: co-creation with young people in the Bridging Responsible AI Divides (BRAID) programme (2022-2028). BRAID is a £15.9 million investment in enabling responsible AI in the UK, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and consulting with children and young people about AI.
Unbelievably Creative challenges young people to distinguish between human and AI-created products, and reflect on ethical issues related to the use of AI in creative contexts and answer questions such as “Is it ever fair to use AI to create art?”, “What are the consequences of GenAI on the work of artists?”, or “Should we always label AI content?”.
The STV News story features interviews to Professor Jen Ross, in the research team of the BRAID-funded project alongside our programme director Judy Robertson, and Daniel Devine, Head of Programmes at Digital Skills Education.
