We are excited to be a Supporter of the STEM Nation Award programme. The programme has been designed by Education Scotland to support schools and community learning and development providers to develop high-quality STEM learning in their setting and to celebrate their achievements along the way.

On the 6th March, more than 250 learners, teachers, practitioners and STEM organisations attended the STEM Nation Expo 2024 in Glasgow City Chambers. Connection and Inspiration, two key themes of the STEM strategy, were the focus of the event.

Jo Spiller (Programme Director) and Jasmeen Kanwal (Project Officer) hosted a drop-in stall. In this video, Jo presents the Data Education in Schools programme.

Visitors played our successful Weaving Data activity and two data-collection games. Jo and Jasmeen provided them with Lego pieces to indicate whether they were primary or secondary school teachers, learners, or other practitioners. Gin glasses were used to collect data on the visitors’ hours of sleep… But no gin was involved in the activity!

The stall also included a world map. Visitors used coloured stickers to pin the place where they were born, their favourite destination, and the most boring location they could think of.

Jo and Jasmeen left the event empty-handed after distributing posters and handbooks of our resources.  The Expo was a great success all-around and the team are looking forward to other amazing events as a STEM Nation Supporter.
